Waterford Technologies gets LA Fitness into e-mail management shape
LA Fitness selects Waterford’s e-mail archiving solution; reduces email storage by 50 per cent.
Buckinghamshire, UK, -- 14 February 2007. Waterford Technologies, the leading provider of intelligent email management solutions, today announced that LA Fitness has implemented its MailMeter solution to improve its email archiving capabilities. MailMeter has reduced LA Fitness’ email storage by 50 per cent as a result of better email archiving and management.
Following the acquisition of Dragons Health Clubs, LA Fitness evaluated its email environment as part of a wider IT consolidation initiative. The immediate need was for the storage management team to reduce the size of email inboxes and ensure faster backup times. MailMeter addresses this need as it enables LA Fitness to remove attachments from older emails and replace them with links ("stubs") to the attachments in the email archive where they are compressed and stored separately from the mail server.

LA Fitness selected Waterford’s MailMeter email archive because it has been using MailMeter’s forensic module since August 2004. As the underlying data structure was already in place for MailMeter’s forensic module, the move to the email archiving module was the best approach for LA Fitness.
LA Fitness continues to use MailMeter’s forensic module from an administrative perspective for information search and retrieval. The solution also provides insight into employee productivity and performance, and also helps ensure the company’s email policy is adhered across LA Fitness’ 88 clubs nationwide. Policies include drilling down into email usage to ensure that employees do not use inappropriate language in email correspondence and to monitor the levels of personal emails being sent that affect productivity levels.
